IMU Navi Mumbai Bids Farewell to the Future of Indian Maritime Sector at Grand Passing Out Parade 2025
The prestigious Indian Maritime University, Navi Mumbai Campus (T.S. Chanakya), celebrated the Passing Out Parade 2025 with grandeur and pride, marking a significant milestone for 182 B.Sc. Nautical Science graduates and 40 Diploma cadets from the School of Nautical Studies.
The evening was graced by Shri Vikas Narwal, IAS, Managing Director of the Indian Ports Association and proud alumnus of T.S. Chanakya, who attended as the Chief Guest. He was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour by the cadets and warmly welcomed on stage with a bouquet by Capt. A.K. Majumdar, Head of Department.
In a spectacular march past, cadets displayed impeccable discipline and maritime spirit. Capt. Mihir Chandra, Campus Director, presented a commemorative memento to the Chief Guest and delivered an inspiring address. Encouraging cadets to "dream big with eyes open" and to "believe in themselves," Capt. Chandra invoked the words of former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and highlighted the year’s exceptional achievements, including notable placement successes, the foundation stone laying for a new academic block, and impactful initiatives like:
ANGLOTHON – A national-level English language competition for maritime students
Marine Safety Awareness Programme for Agri-Koli fishermen
Cloud Kitchen Training for local women in collaboration with TISS Chembur
Launch of Girl Cadets' Cricket Team
Boxing Matches and other sports events for overall development
National Maritime Sports Meet, inaugurated by legendary Olympian P.T. Usha

Queen Top Award: Cadet Deepak Saini
Highest Attendance Award: Cadets Parvathy Manoj (B.Sc NS) and Prashant (DNS)
Best Sportsperson Award: Cadet Shubham Tiwari, presented with a Rs. 20,000/- cheque by Shri Vedatma Kriti in memory of Prof. V.N. Singh
Shining Star Award: Cadet Rajbir Singh, presented by alumni Mr. Priyadarshi Bhaskar and Mr. Anish Kapoor (Batch 2006)
Cadet of the Year 2025: Shubham Tiwari (Winner), Deepak Saini (Runner-up)
In his heartfelt speech, Shri Vikas Narwal reminisced about his own journey from the decks of T.S. Chanakya to the corridors of Indian bureaucracy. He urged cadets to nurture their friendships and network, emphasizing how camaraderie helped him throughout his professional life. “Be riders of the wave and shine bright,” he encouraged the outgoing batch.
The ceremony concluded with a warm vote of thanks by Shri Imtiaz Ahmad, Deputy Registrar (Admin), followed by a gala dinner and networking session, wrapping up a truly memorable evening.
