The UAE's ADNOC Drilling received a new jackup rig from Singaporean shipbuilder Seatrium New Energy, previously Keppel FELS, on Tuesday, the company reported.
The AlSila drilling rig is one of five that Seatrium had been constructing for Borr Drilling. Three of the jackups were to be delivered more quickly, therefore the constructor and Borr Drilling came to an agreement in 2022. Since then, Borr Drilling has novated the building contracts for the three rigs to ADNOC Drilling.
The second of a trio of jackup rigs built by Seatrium's Pioneer Yard in Singapore, the AlSila was finished and delivered on schedule and within budget.
Built to KFELS B Class specifications, the AlSila can drill deep wells both vertically and horizontally and can operate in water depths of up to 30,000 feet. The rig also boasts a self-positioning fixation system that can hold 150 people comfortably and a high-capacity rack and pinion elevating mechanism that is both sophisticated and fully automated.
