The Indian Register of Shipping (IRS), an international ship classification society, and Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (MPUVNL) have signed an MOU aimed at classifying and certifying Solar-Electric boats, thereby supporting the Government of India's vision of 'Atma Nirbhar Bharat'. This collaborative effort aims to boost sustainability by promoting the use of renewables.
Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd, formed by the Madhya Pradesh government, functions as the key body for implementing different renewable energy programmes and policies of both the Indian and state governments.
The MOU's scope encompasses technical review of specifications, inspection during construction, and certification of materials, components, and equipment. Additional technical services, such as document evaluations and training for MPUVNL personnel, will be provided by the IRS. Chairman of MPUVNL, Shri. Giriraj Dandotiya, expressed optimism, stating that the partnership with IRS would significantly contribute to the successful completion of planned projects.
Shri. Vijay Arora, Managing Director of IRS, expressed satisfaction about the collaboration, aiming to provide top-notch technical services to enhance renewable energy usage. He credited Chairman Shri. Giriraj Dandotiya for his instrumental role in conceptualizing and finalizing the MOU, and acknowledged the contributions of senior officials at MPUVNL.
Managing Director of MPUVNL, Shri. Karamveer Sharma, IAS, highlighted the significance of the MOU in realizing the desired solar potential through the expertise of IRS, a highly respected technical entity.
