Noble Secures $500 Million Contract with Petrobras for Ultra-Deepwater Drillship
By Seaandcoast | 20/05/2023
Noble, the offshore drilling company listed in both New York and Copenhagen, has secured a significant contract worth $500 million with Brazil's national oil company, Petrobras. The deal involves the ultra-deepwater drillship, the Noble Faye Kozack, which was originally built in 2013 and formerly known as the Pacific Khamsin. The drillship will be used for two-and-a-half years for drilling operations at the BM-S-11 and Tupi fields offshore Brazil starting in Q4 2023.

This collaboration between Noble and Petrobras is the first in many years, according to Robert Eifler, the president and CEO of Noble. The fact that Noble has been chosen for this prestigious contract is a testament to its reputation as a leading player in the offshore drilling industry. The Noble Faye Kozack is currently under contract with LLOG, a Louisiana-based oil company, working in the US Gulf of Mexico for $420,000 per day until August.

In addition to this significant contract with Petrobras, Noble has also announced a separate 60-day one-well contract with Shell for the drillship Noble Voyager offshore Mauritania. This contract comes with extension options for up to two years and will start in continuation of the rig's current employment with Shell.

The offshore drilling industry is an essential part of the global oil and gas sector, and Noble's continued success highlights the importance of offshore drilling in the current economic climate. This significant contract with Petrobras is expected to bolster Noble's financial position and enable the company to invest further in its operations. As a leading player in the offshore drilling industry, Noble is well-positioned to continue to grow and succeed in the years to come.
