GasLog, a US-listed Greek LNG shipping company, has recently secured multi-year employment for three of its LNG carriers, as reported in their first-quarter results statement. The company has successfully chartered the 2010-built GasLog Singapore to New Fortress Energy Transport Partners for two years, with an additional 90-day option. Additionally, Shell has extended its charters of GasLog Geneva and GasLog Gibraltar, both built in 2016, for an extended period that will keep the vessels sailing well into 2028, with an additional three-year option remaining.
This achievement comes as GasLog is on the verge of finalizing its merger deal with its New York-listed affiliate, GasLog Partners. This merger will enable the company to acquire around 70% of the partnership it currently does not own, taking the owner of 11 LNG ships private, and creating a fleet of nearly 40 LNG carriers, including four that are currently under construction. This acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of Q3 2023, positioning GasLog as a major player in the LNG shipping industry.
