Indian Navy has pursed a critical project through the Technology Development Fund of DRDO for leveraging Artificial Intelligence in Health and Usage Monitoring System (HUMS) for enhancing operation availability of MiG-29K fighters. The project being executed by M/s Smart Machines, Hyderabad, is aimed at achieving high level of serviceability and combat readiness of the platform at all times through use of trending and predictive maintenance.
The results obtained (based on threshold data and AI) would be used by IN for analysis and decision making on maintenance issues pertaining to engines and airframe. Preliminary trials and validation of the project has been successfully completed. The project was formally handed over to the Indian Navy as part of ‘Launch of new technology’ event by DRDO on 14 Feb 23 as part of Aero India 2023.
