The International Yoga Festival began in Rishikesh on Monday, March 1, 2021 with about 400 yoga enthusiasts joining the event. Acharya Balkrishna said that yoga is the real cure of diseases, not the medicines. The Chief Guest at the inaugural function, Mr. Subodh Uniyal, Agriculture Minister of Uttarakhand, while inaugurating the festival termed Rishikesh as Yognagari and stated that yoga not only keeps humans fit but also perishes the negativity within. The festival is the result of collaborative efforts of Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMNV) and Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB)
The morning session began with yoga guru Kapil Sanghvi conducting a well-attended and illuminating session on pranayama (breath control exercise). Usha Mata took a session on Iyengar Yoga.
This seven-day festival will conclude on March 7, 2021. Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam managing director Ashish Chauhan informed the mass that all arrangements have been made in accordance with the guidelines of Covid-19 issued by the Government of India and State Government
