Team Sea and Coast | 03/07/2020

The Philippines which is also globally the largest supplier of crew to the international shipping industry has opened a “Green Lane” for mariners to allow for gratis movement and crew change.

On Tuesday the Philippine Green Lane Joint Circular was signed which in a move would ease thousands of Filipino crew stranded at sea, and this would be led by Philippines Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin Jr.

As of 2nd July the joint circular will come into effect and will focus on safe travel of mariners subject to health protocols from the Philippines government.

The Philippines Department of Foreign Affairs explained that the Joint Circular covered shipping companies, licensed manning agencies, mariners airlines and other bodies involved in facilitating the travel of mariners with the motive of crew change and repatriation during the coronavirus pandemic.
