Three Navios boxship container lost in Australian waters
Team Sea and Coast | 30/06/2020

According to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA), a Navios Maritime Containers-operated boxship has lost three containers in Australian waters

The Australian authority said the Liberia-flagged, 8,200-teu Navios Unite lost the containers in foul weather in Western Australia about 33km south west of Cape Leeuwin at 8pm local time last Thursday.

The 2006-built container vessel was in transit from Fremantle to Adelaide in South Australia.

“Overnight, AMSA tasked its Challenger jet from Perth to search an area of about 1,600 square km for any sightings of the missing containers. No containers were sighted,” AMSA updated last Friday.

The AMSA is currently collating information about the incident and will “determine its course of action” once after information is available.
