French Company GTT secures LNG tanks order in China

France’s GTT, an LNG containment specialist, has secured an order to design two storage tanks for Beijing Gas Group’s Tianjin Nangang LNG terminal in China. It won the contract from China Huanqiu Contracting & Engineering.

GTT said that the 220,000-cbm tanks will be the largest land storage tanks in China.The containment tanks which are membrane full will feature GST technology developed by GTT.

This order follows the deal signed in November of 2019 between GTT and Beijing Enterprises Group (BEG), a Chinese state-owned company.

BEG unitand city gas distributor Beijing Gasis building a 5 million tonnes per year LNG import terminal in the Tianjin south port Industrial Zone. The LNG receiving terminal will be an emergency peak-shaving reserve project.

The tanks and the project are slated to be launched by Beijing Gas in in the final quarter of 2022.
